Support on transferring from AWS to managed WP

    Hi,

    I need to chat with a support engineer to understand what we need to do to transfer our current site from AWS to managed WP. I volunteer at a non-profit Hindu temple in the Washington DC area and am the IT Administrator.

    I have several questions before we come up with a plan to transfer. Can I please talk to someone?

    Hi I am exploring options for the institution I volunteer at. My first option is to transfer it to WordPress.com — unless you tell me that I need to go to another provider.

    Do you not support over the phone?

    Hi there,

    Can you tell us a bit more about your site? What type of content do you publish, and what type of features are you looking for? That will really determine whether we’re the best hosting option for you, and what upgrades you’ll need with us.

    Regarding migration specifically:

    Is your site at AWS using the WordPress CMS, or is it built using a different CMS/with static HTML?

    If you’re already using WordPress, you can transfer the entire site to us, including theme and plugins, using the Jetpack plugin on our Business Plan. You can find a detailed overview of the process here:

    If you’re using another CMS that offers an export of your content, you should be able to import it here, but you won’t be able to bring your theme/design with you. Or if your CMS doesn’t offer an importer, or it’s a static HTML site, the only way to migrate the content here is by manually copy-pasting it into new posts and pages on your WordPress site (this applies whether you use WordPress.com, or choose to use WordPress at another hosting provider).

    To bring your domain with you, you’ll also need one of our paid plans. You’ll have the option of keeping your domain registered at the current provider and just connecting it here, or transferring the domain registration to us entirely so you pay us for renewing it in future:
