Support response time re lapsed domain name

Now that I’ve figured out that my small-business domain name has lapsed, I am trying to redeem it. Starting several days ago, I’ve followed WP directions to use the Support form, which appears to be the only way to launch this process. I just need to know about how long I should expect to wait for a response. I see today’s message that Support is closed over the weekend and will reopen on Monday… has it been closed since Wednesday? If I know that I need to wait a week, I can take more deep breaths and wait a week. Any info anyone’s got on their own experience with Support response time would help this frazzled tiny-business-owning new mama. Thanks!

Volunteers answering support question on this peer support forum cannot help with this issue. Staff will be avaiable on Monday. They have over 25 million to provide support to. They deal with support tickets by earliest date first so if you keep contacting them the date keeps moving forward creating a longer waiting period.

Upgrades for domain mapping are annually renewable and we do get plenty of warning. A warning is posted on our dashboards about 2 month prior to the renewal date. Another one appears 30 days prior to the renewal date. Google prefers domains that are not going to expire quickly, so I just renew when I get the 60 day notice. Once a Domain registration expires it goes into Redemption and will cost more than normal to renew. There is also no guarantee you will be able to get the same domain again.

Thanks. With no record of an e-mail about the upcoming domain name lapse (unlike 2010, when I got one 90 days out and went and renewed immediately) and my not visiting my dashboard for several months because the landing page had no changes and I had a new baby to take care of in addition to my clients, I missed it. I appreciate the info if not the lecture.

What I posted above was not a lecture. It was a factual and informative response. Unfortunately you allowed the domain to expire without renewing it promptly. My very best wishes for contacting Staff on Monday at this link to get it back. http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/

You’re right and I apologize for being snippy. Sleep deprivation makes me ridiculously over-sensitive, and it felt like I was being scolded when you were indeed just going through the general information. You would have had no way to know anything about my situation or what happened. And regardless of circumstances, it is indeed my responsibility. I really do appreciate your taking the time to reply.

Not to worry. I do accpet your apology and I do wish you well but we Volunteers have no idea how long it will take Staff to work their way through the support tickets.
