Support thread will not post
-
I need help accessing my blogs and I’ve tried to post this support thread twice, but it does not seem to be working. I will happily provide additional details if I can get this to post.
blog: francessssca.wordpress.com -
The blog was started in 2009 for my college art history class. In 2011 I changed the admin email address from my college address (since I would lose access) to my current email address.
I could not use my current (admin) email address to reset my password because wordpress said it was not linked to an account. I cannot submit a wordpress password recovery form because I do not have any of the three required proofs of ownership; however, I do have the email from 2011 confirming the admin email access update and additional emails of notifications from (email visible only to moderators and staff). I also have access to all the social media links on my blog.
I believe the blog is hosted by wordpress and I only ever used their online interface to post, so I do not have access to any of the script-based work-arounds that I’ve read about.
Please advise. I would be happy to connect with a Happiness Engineer directly, but I cannot figure out how to do that except by starting a new support forum topic. Thank you in advance for your help.

If you can still access the email address associated with the site there shouldn’t be any problem. Have you tried adding the correct username to the password recovery form and then checking your email address?

The email address associated with my site (updated in 2011) could not be used to log in; I tried using the email address as the login (instead of the username) and it prompted an error from WordPress stating that the email address was not associated with a WordPress account.
I had to open a new wordpress account, using my same current email address, in order to post to the support forum. I was hoping that opening a new wordpress account with the same email that is used as the admin email address on my blog might help me regain access, but my blogs did not automatically link to my new wordpress account.
If I were to try to use the password reset process now that I’ve opened a second wordpress account using that email address, I am sure it would only apply to my new wordpress account.
Thank you for your input, @themagicrobot.

You can’t have two different WordPress.com accounts using the same email address.
The email address associated with my site (updated in 2011) could not be used to log in;
Then that isn’t the correct email address for the site. Your old site therefore must be associated with another email address.
All you can do is try the username rather than an email address for password recovery and check every email address you own. -
I do not have access to the original email address used to open my site.
I do have access to the admin email address that I assigned to my site in 2011, including the confirmation email from wordpress and subsequent email notifications from wordpress. The admin email address that I assigned to my site in 2011 is my current email address.
There is no other email address that could be associated with my site.
I do not know why my current email address, the admin email to my site, could not be used to log in and was able to be used to create a new site. It would have been most beneficial for me if my current email address was able to be used for password recovery.
I am very hopeful that WordPress staff will be able to field my inquiry. In the meantime, I am as stymied by this issue as you, @themagicrobot. Thank you.

Hi there @francescaec please continue in the thread where you are being helped by Staff at https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/regain-access-to-blogs/
In the future, kindly refrain from opening multiple forum threads on the same topic. Thanks
