Surprised YouTube embed in comments post

I’ve noticed on some websites users are allowed to upload pictures along with their comments. While I’ve wondered the possibility of doing this on WP.com hosted blogs more than once I was surprised when a comment came in with a YouTube link and WP.com converted it into an embedded video. So cool. I now wonder if this also applied to photo links where WP.com automatically resizes to a thumbnail for images that exceed the allowed dimensions.

When embedding videos and polls in comments was first announced, the question about photos was also asked and the answer at that time was “it’s complicated”. Don’t know that things have changed, but this Support doc seems to say it hasn’t.

This is a little bit Off Topic But if you want to convert the video comment into a link please follow these instructions.

To turn a comment video into a link simply
edit the comment then highlight the link
then click the code option then click save

Now the video will be turned into a link for
your readers to click and be reedirected to the
    actual video on YouTube.
