Is a blog that is mainly informational, but has a link to another website where a health product is sold, out of line with the WordPress.COM ToS? Is this cause for a blog to be suspended?

And if so, if this blog is upgraded, can the blog be reinstated?

And if so how does one upgrade WordPress.COM .. I can’t see any links to upgrade.

Or would it be best to transfer the blog to WordPress.ORG?

    What is the best solution?

After putting a lot of time into my blog I don’t want to lose it. I’m really fine about paying for my own hosting. But I don’t have a lot of Webmaster skills that I understand WordPress.ORG might require.

Thanks for any insight you may be able to give

If the blog is suspended, it would be pure foolishness to pay for upgrades, since there IS no upgrade which will un-suspend a blog in violation of the Terms of Service.

And if you want to use your blog here to drive traffic to a third-party sales website, yes, that would violate the ToS. You can ask staff directly at http://support.wordpress.com/contact to confirm

    Thanks Raincoaster.

Would it violate the ToS of WordPress.ORG?

No, it wouldn’t; in fact, it’s one of the main reasons people leave WP.com; because they want to monetize their blogs, either directly or indirectly.

naturally, every web host has terms of service, so just double check with whoever you decide to go with. There are recommendations over there.

Thanks again Raincoaster. That’s exactly what I needed to know.

I’ve been looking through the WordPress.ORG themes. Unfortunately I can’t find one as ‘appealing’ as my present WordPress.COM theme (to me anyway) But if it has to be.

    Thanks once again.

You’re welcome. On your WP.com blog, follow the link to the web designer’s site. Sometimes they have a WP.org version. Or you can just google the theme’s name.
