Swap domain names between two blogs, both wordpress

  I would like to swap domain names between two different wordpress sites under separate usernames, both of with belong to me. There doesn’t seem to be an easy way to do this. Ideally, I would have just deleted both and started again. I’m hoping there is a simple way to accomplish this.

  Are you talking about switching custom domains (such as johnsmith.com) or switching WordPress.com domains (such as johnsmith.wordpress.com).

  Custom domains. Specifically, I would like the site that is currently “fromstrategytosuccess.co” to become “fromstrategytosuccess.com”; I would like “fromstrategytosuccess.com” to become “fromstrategytosuccess.co”.

  So, that is absolutely possible.

  However, it is complicated by the fact that the upgrades are owned by different WordPress.com accounts.

  Can you log in with your other account and make the same request here?

  Hey Chas,

  In order to do the switch, both WordPress.com sites must have users in common. I can transfer domain names for you, but only if the sites have the same administrators.

  Ideally, I would have just deleted both and started again. I’m hoping there is a simple way to accomplish this.

  It’ll be a lot easier for you to simply add each user account to each site. You can do so according to these steps:

  en.support.wordpress.com/adding-users/

  Once you add both WordPress.com user names to both sites, I can make the transfer for you! Just let me know when you’re ready.

  I still only see one user listed for each site.

  If you’re struggling at all with this, if you confirm the information below, I’ll send and invitation from each site for the “other” user to join.

  WordPress.com site: pmcincca.wordpress.com/
  Custom Domain: fromstrategytosuccess.com/
  Administrator: pmcincadmin
  Action to take: invite the user chasmc to join this site

  WordPress.com site: chasmcent.wordpress.com/
  Custom Domain: fromstrategytosuccess.co/
  Administrator: chasmc
  Action to take: invite the user pmcincadmin to join this site

  Does this sound right to you? Once these sites are connected by mutual users, I can move the domains. Let me know at your earliest convenience, and I can get the ball rolling. Thank you!

  Hi Robyn,

  From what I am seeing, chasmc is an administrator for pmcinc; pmcinc is not an administrator for chasmc despite several attempts and sending and accepting an invitation.

  Regardless, what you have in your last note is correct.

  I pushed that added user through on my end, so you’re all set now.

  I swapped the domain names on those WordPress.com sites. Can you please take a look and let me know if all is working as you wish?
