Thank you I’ve checked and now my blog points to my new domain name, how do I get it say my domain name in the address bar like it use to with my old domain?.
-
i reread the email I got and it says I’m on free plan and I need to pay to have my new domain as the primary but I paid to have my old domain as primary in Nov and since I don’t own that domain any more I would to have my new domain as the primary.
-
It is not possible to set a domain as primary on your site without having a paid plan.
Had your previous domain been set as primary at the time we introduced this policy, you would have been able to continue using it in that way, but when I checked your account this morning the free WordPress.com URL was set as primary, which means your account does not have this legacy status.
There is no way for me to override this and give your site this legacy status after the fact, so the only way you’ll be able to set that domain as primary is to upgrade to a paid plan.
You can see our available plans here:

Thanks for clarifying that for me, the free one was set at as primary yesterday before that my old domain kts350.com was associated with my account for many years which why i am confused about it.

Hi there,
At one time it was possible to have standalone domain mapping (without the need to purchase a plan) but that is no longer the case.
To use ozbnc.com as the primary domain for your site you will need to purchase one of our plans listed here: https://wordpress.com/pricing/
Please note that because you already purchased domain mapping (normally included for free) I have added A$17 in credit to your account, so that if you decide to move forward with one of our plans you do not have to pay full price.
You will see the discount is applied in checkout, after you add one of our plans to your cart.
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

sorry it’s taken a while to answer, so from i understand i use to just pay $17 a year to have my domain pointed to my blog.
But now that’s going to cost me a lot more then $17 clearly not really fair but something i should of picked up earlier my mistake, but because i had already paid to have my old domain pointed towards my blog and I can’t just change that to my new domain you have given me a $17 credit.
Also when i log into my account it still says i have my old domain one that i dont own anymore mapped. Clearly im missing something along the lines here.
So really what im getting is im a complete idiot for panicking about my new domain not working, because it was never going to work unless i pay you guys a lot more money then i have paid you for the last 9 years to have it work.
Again my bad guess i wasted money buying a domain names when now it’s completely useless, for the purpose i wanted to use it for. -
Domain mapping as a standalone upgrade is something we stopped offering several years ago. The plan prices help cover our costs.
If you wish, you’d be welcome to move your WordPress installation to another host, but bear in mind, our services include hosting as well as maintenance, SSL, security, and support (for paid plans).
I think you’ll find the pricing for just hosting alone is very similar, and that’s without the other services. Still, here’s how to proceed if that’s what you’d like to do:

if you stopped it several years ago why I have i just been paying $17 a year for domain mapping every year for the past 9 yrs.
This why i dont understand it if I dont pay a lot more money for a hosting plan then you guys will not be getting anything to cover your costs from me.
Where as before I was paying $17 every year to use the features I wanted to use which was domain mapping. I dont want or need the other things that are offered.
Yep I can move my blog to another site most of them offer free sites as well and that could well happen.
If it seems the kind of service you give somebody who has been a loyal user for 9yrs and recommended and got lots of other people to use this platform is if you don’t like it go somewhere else.
I’ve worked in customer service for 30 years and never once said to a loyal customer if you don’t like go somewhere else, was taught that was one of things you never say when I was taught 30 years ago guess things have changed. -
Domain Mapping is no longer available as a stand-alone upgrade. But, since you did have it as one, it has been auto-renewing as one.
The domain is properly mapped, but in order for it to be set as the primary domain, you will need a paid plan, any paid plan: https://wordpress.com/pricing/

If as I was told hasn’t been offered for several what was I paying $17 every year and when was it stopped being offered.
Or Is it the case of it would stayed the say and domain would have been forwarded like it has been since I started paying for domain mapping in 2013 and I hadn’t changed my domain name.
It’s only now that because I’ve changed my domain name that I now have to pay for a hosting plan, so really it’s my bad for changing my domain name?. -
Oh I checked what my $120 hosting plan would get me
Free Domain for One Year: I already own the domain
Remove WordPress.com Ads: run whatever ads you like I thought thats how you recovered some costs
Collect payments: It’s a car review blog I dont accept payments
Unlimited Email Support: oh wow
Once again making me pay for a bunch of crap that’s not relevant for me. -
A paid plan, any paid plan, has been required to set your mapped domain as primary for a few years now: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/#set-a-primary-address
You were essentially grandfathered into the setting, but once it was changed, it cannot be set back to primary now without a paid plan.
Our plans are available starting at $48/year: https://wordpress.com/pricing/
And, my colleague has added $17 in credit to your account, which will be applied during checkout with any plan.

How many years has it been happening?
So basically if i didn’t change my domain name then everything would stayed the same oh and its only $48 because it’s on sale normally it’s 120 which is a lot more then 17 just to get my domain to point towards it. -
How many years has it been happening?
Since 2017.
So basically if i didn’t change my domain name then everything would stayed the same
That is correct, yes.
its only $48 because it’s on sale normally it’s 120
I’m not sure where you’re getting the $120 from, but that’s not correct.
The Personal plan has always been $48/year, you can view our prices at https://wordpress.com/pricing/
-
My mistake it says $120 for the plan but then it says an annual discount so it now says $60.
-
Again, you can find our prices at https://wordpress.com/pricing/
We do not sell anything for $120/year or $60/year.
The Personal Plan is $48/year.
