Then why does it say this when I try and check out
WordPress.com Personal
A$120 A$60
One year subscription: A$5 /month × 12
Annual discount -
Ah sorry, no you are correct for Australian $.
I was speaking in terms of United States $.
The prices you are quoting for Australian $ are correct, A$60/year for the Personal plan.
And, my colleague has added A$17 in credit to your account, which will be applied during checkout with any plan.
-
Makes a big difference when I look at in Australian dollars, specially when I am being asked to pay more then 3 times what I have been and the blog I operate in non profit.
Do i also get a discount for a the free domain I will never use because I already own the one I want to use.
My current Australian company charges me less then $24 U.S. to register a domain name. -

Not specifically, but that’s why my colleague has added A$17 in credit to your account, which will be applied during checkout with any plan.

So was it for that was it because I had already paid for domain mapping in Nov last year?.
So if i do get a plan this year, next year when it rolls around it will be same you guys will want to give me free domain I dont want or need and will still have to pay $60 just to get my domain pointed to my blog which is all I want and the only real difference between paying you money to cover your costs and running a free site and not paying you anything for it. -

The paid plans include one free domain registration, transfer, or mapping.
So, the A$17 credit covers the mapping you already paid for this year, and future renewals at the regular rate will include the one free mapping covering your domain use.
-
Bit what if i dont want or need the domain registration because ive already paid for it elsewhere.
-
It also includes the domain mapping, which would have been A$17, but is no longer available individually.
So, you’ll be using the plan’s free domain credit to continue to map the domain as your site’s primary address.
-
I checked and you guys guys charge $24U.S. or roughly $31.40AUD for domain registration but if I pay $60AUD you will give me this for free but if I don’t need it because I’ve already paid an Australian company to register the domain I own and I dont need or want the free domain I’m still paying $60 for essentially the same thing I’ve been paying $17 per year for since 2013.
-
What you want is to map your domain to your site so that your domain is your site’s primary address: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/map-existing-domain/
You must have a paid plan now to map your domain and make it your site’s primary address: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/#set-a-primary-address
Each paid plan includes 1 free domain credit, good to cover the cost of a domain registration, transfer, or mapping.

Yes that’s all I want to do and was doing that until I changed my domain and found out I now because I have changed my domain I have to buy I plan I dont want or need to do it.
This is because you stopped stand alone domain mapping to force people to spend more money then they use to spend to buy plans.
This apparently happened years ago but I didn’t know about it because I was just getting billed and paying for domain mapping every year.
Yes the plan might include a free domain credit but that’s means nothing to me because I have already paid for a domain through a different company and so the credit useless to me. Can’t give me credit for something I haven’t paid you for ie had I of bought my domain name through you guys. -
Hello there,
You’re under no obligation to use the free domain credit, if you do not wish to – it’s a perk of a paid plan, if you need it.
Domain mapping is free with plan, because we understand that this domain has indeed been purchased with another provider.
I hope this extra information helps going forward.
Many thanks in advance.

Indeed its another usless perk along with the other perks you get with a plan that are no use to me and that im being forced to pay for because i just want domain mapping like ive been billed and paid for every year since 2013.
Saying making us pay for plans to help cover your costs, is a load of rubbish specially for people like me who just wanted to pay for domain mapping.
How much cost is involved with changing a setting on my account pointing my domain to my blog.
Its definately not worth the extra $43 a year im now being asked to pay for it.
Bare in mind if i dont pay for a plan then you wont even be getting the $17 a year i was paying for domain mapping so i wont be helping pay any of your costs. -
Hi there,
We do not offer domain mapping as a standalone upgrade, so the only way to have that option is via one of our upgrade plans. We are not able to make an exception in this case so to proceed with ozbnc.com as your site address you must purchase one of our plans.
If cost is an issue you may wish to check if your domain provider also offers web hosting. We are not the only provider of WordPress sites, and you do have the option to start a WordPress site (using your custom domain address) at Crazy Domains for example.
The cost of hosting your own WordPress site is usually very competitive with what we offer, so you are not required to have your site hosted with us. If you are looking for a good web host for your self-hosted site, we recommend the following providers, who all offer easy-to-use wizards to help you get your first WordPress site set up and running:
That said, most major web hosting providers will work, so you can just ask if the one you are interested in supports WordPress.
