Swells blog text and imagery alterations
-
Hi, I have a few things I’d like to alter if possible?!
Could I make an area at the top of the main blog page – where I could write a few lines to say what my blog is about?
Is it possible to have a horizontal line between each blog post?
How do I make each post only show the excerpt until you click for detail? I have completed the excerpt on my https://palmerowen.wordpress.com/2015/02/22/our-latest-responsive-wordpress-website-is-live/ post and the initial page still shows the full post!
I’d also prefer the full blog posts to just show the associated image sized as they are on the initial post i.e. not in a great big image banner at the top of the page – where its stretched larger than intended and therefore pixelated. Is it possible to not have it do that? If not, I’d like to reduce the height of the blog banner image, if you could help with the css?
Thanks
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hey there!

Unfortunately, the theme’s settings don’t allow for this. You may find it useful to contact Swell’s developer’s directly about this matter. Since this is a Premium theme, you’re welcome to go “straight to the horse’s mouth” so to speak.
Here is a link to contact them:

I suggest using the Read More tag to display the excerpts you’d like. Here are the instructions:

You can do this by editing your CSS. If you’d like to give this a try, click Customize in your site’s Dashboard. Then, click CSS menu. In the CSS Revisions box, please paste the following underneath all existing text:
.body-wrap {
border-bottom-style: solid;
border-bottom-color: #c0a02f;
border-width: 1px;
}Then Save your changes.
I’d also prefer the full blog posts to just show the associated image sized as they are on the initial post i.e. not in a great big image banner at the top of the page – where its stretched larger than intended and therefore pixelated. You can reduce the height of the banner image, but it will be stretched to meet the width. This will still make the image pixelated. Since my best solution for you is to increase the size of your uploaded image, this may be another issue you bring to Swell’s developer.
I hope this helps! If you have any other concerns, drop me a note. Thanks much!

Hi thanks for your help. I’ll look at the stuff you’ve suggested.
Could you send me the css for just reducing the height of the blog’s banner image as an interim – whilst I consult the theme’s developer on it. Managed to post this on LinkedIn by accident (didn’t know it publicize was set up!) and want to make it look half decent when people click!!
Thanks

Can you give this a try?
.entry-header { height: 250px; } span.meta.date-author { top: -90px; }When the header height is changed, the date and author sit within the body of the text so I’ve adjusted that as well.
