Switch back to WordPress from Bluehost & retain with domain with Bluehost

  I first started on a free wordpress account and then switched to Bluehost domain and hosting. Life happens and while I want to retain the domain with BH, I am good to cancel the hosting. Is that possible? Will I need to pay for hosting at WP? I am looking for a free option that is easy on pocket while i don’t lose access to my work and continue to build on it. Would be very grateful if someone can guide and help. Thanks in advance.
