Switch Editor to Classic Editor
-
Hello
I would like to switch from the Block Editor to the Classic Editor. I see no built-in way to do this. The only option I can find is to install the Classic Editor plugin but that requires that I purchase a business plan. Is there a way to switch to Classic Editor without purchasing a business plan? I just prefer the Classic.
Thank you

You can actually insert a block in the WordPress editor that looks like the Classic Editor, to do this please follow the steps on this guide here:

Hope this helps!

Hi there,
The classic editor was removed from the open source WordPress software when version 5.0 came out in late 2019. That software is made by the community on WordPress.org.
We use that same software here on WordPress.com, so if the software changes, it also changes how WordPress.com works. So it is no longer possible to switch to the classic editor completely, as that editor no longer exists in the WordPress software.
On WordPress.com we do offer the classic editor plugin pre-installed on all sites, so that editor is still available here and you don’t need any upgrade to use it. But it cannot be set as the default. To use the classic editor, go to https://wordpress.com/me/account and enable the setting to show WP-Admin pages under Dashboard Appearance.
Now if you go to My Site ->Posts, you’ll have a choice whether to use the classic or block editor when editing or creating posts.
That said, the classic editor plugin won’t be supported indefinitely, and once the community on WordPress.org stops supporting that plugin, it will also stop being available on WordPress.com. At that point the block editor will be the only option, so I strongly recommend you give it a try. We have detailed tutorials on how all the different blocks work:

If you prefer the feel of the classic editor, the Classic Block is the recommended option, as that is part of the block editor and won’t be going away any time soon.
