How do I switch from WordPress.com to a self-hosted WordPress.org installation?
-
I started the blog a couple of months ago with a basic amount of knowledge, so I decided to use the .com account. After a month or so I switched domain names (just dropped the .wordpress.com) as I was getting more comfortable with everything. Now, I want to be able to have more control through a .org account. Is it possible to switch everything over or would I have to start all over?

You do not need to start over! We have some great instructions to walk you through the process at http://support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#moving-to-wordpress-org.
We have hosting recommendations at the following link if you are interested:
http://get.wp.com/hosting/We also offer a Guided Transfer upgrade – we’ll move everything over for you and get you all setup with your self-hosted WordPress.org installation. For more details, please see http://support.wordpress.com/guided-transfer/.
You will need to change the nameservers for your domain so that they point to your new host. Please see http://support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/domain-management/#update-name-servers for information on changing your nameservers.
You can access your domain manager to change your nameservers at
