switch from current host to wordpress? advantages?

  I have my domain thru network solutions and my website on folio link. I am supposed to renew by tomorrow. I am a painter, have had this site for years and its 249/yr. I would like to work on it and make it better, but also be able to sell work directly from the site. What could wordpress do for me?
