Switch my domain later in the game

    Hi there!
    I have a Wix website currently set up with my domain name. I want to switch to WordPress, so I’d like to set up my page here first with the template, and then switch my domain name from Wix to WordPress, once the site is ready.
    However, someone advised me to switch my domain name right away, because it might be difficult to do later on… thoughts?

    WordPress comes in two flavors: the fully hosted WordPress.com, and the self-hosted version, whose software is available for free at WordPress.org.

    Differences between fully hosted WordPress.com and the self-hosted WordPress.org:

    If you are interested in setting up your website with WordPress.com, then we have a support document to help transfer your Wix website to WordPress.com.

    Once you’re able to get your content here, you can set up the design. Finally, you can point the domain, and even transfer it if you’d like.

    Hi there,

    There will be no problem if you only want to switch your domain later. If that’s what you want to do, go ahead and create your site at the free address, purchase the plan you want, and set up your site the way you want it to.

    When you’re ready, you can use the free domain credit in your plan to transfer or map the domain to us.
