Switch off responsive design

    Hi there,
I’ve just applied a new theme for my blog and noticed that all my widgets are appearing underneath the main content on mobile devices and tablets. I’d like to override this, does anyone know how?

My blog is http://www.letterstoelliot.org (a custom WordPress.com site)

    Thanks
    P

There isn’t a way to “switch off” responsive design on Pachyderm. What you would have to do is to search through all of the various CSS files, find all the Media Queries and then rewrite all of them in the custom CSS so that they keep all the original widths when the site is viewed on a desktop.

The reason all the widgets move to the bottom at narrower browser window settings and on smaller devices is so that your content is more readable on those smaller screens, otherwise what a visitor on a small table or phone will see is a very tiny version of your site that is not readable unless they zoom into things.

My first suggestion would be to possibly look for a fixed width theme that would do the job for you.

If you can’t find one, you might want to contact Elto, which is our Partnering WordPress.com customization service and see what their fee would be to change Pachyderm to fixed width.
