Switch to a custom domain

  I am planning on changing my blog’s domain to a custom one. However, I fear that the amount of traffic I receive from search engines will be gone when I change it. Will this be the case?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Search traffic will drop for a while. It takes a bit of time for search engines to get used to the new address. However all the old addresses will still work and traffic will be sent automatically to the new custom domain assuming you also did Domain Mapping.

  I am planning on changing my website from chiefsiddharth.wordpress.com to chiefsiddharth.com and purchasing the package from WordPress which enables me to do this.
  If I’m correct, WordPress will do an automatic 301 redirect.
  In this case, how will SEO and publicity react?

  I’m considering doing the same thing but I’m worried about the thousands of backlinks that are out there. Does the 301 redirect page for page? Or does it just send you to the root domain?
