Switch to a custom domain question

    Hi,

    I want to upgrade to a custom domain name, but there is one thing I am curious about that I can’t seem to find an answer to. Will people who enter my current blog address be automatically forwarded to my new address once I switch to the registered domain? Or, is the original address effectively gone once I switch to the new address?

    Anyone know this?

    Yes, once you get the new domain name and do the domain mapping here, all old URLs will be automatically redirected to the new domain name and URLs. Anyone entering the old URL will get redirected to the new.

    The redirect are also all 301s (permanent) so the search engines will over a 3-6 month period start rolling any old URLs in their indexes over to the new URLs.
