Switch to Classic Editor

We have tips for transitioning from the classic editor to blocks https://wordpress.com/support/switching-from-the-classic-to-the-block-editor/ and FAQs: https://wordpress.com/support/replacing-the-older-wordpress-com-editor-with-the-wordpress-block-editor/#frequently-asked-questions
And, if you really want to use something like the classic editor, we recommend sticking with the classic block: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/classic-block/
For more details, please see https://wordpress.com/blog/2020/08/13/the-classic-editing-experience-is-moving-not-leaving/
We do recommend the new editor though, and we have some extensive documentation available at https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/

The block editor is such a slowdown for true blogging if you’ve been doing it for years.

@farlane – I think there’s too much emphasis is on the word
blockas opposed to writing. If your primary content is text and images, have you tried just writing in the Editor at MySite without selecting anything? The default block is the Paragraph block and you can add images when starting a new block by hitting Enter and typing/imagewhich will bring up a whole array of image insertion options. If you want Classic, then the Classic Block is available. https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/classic-block/
If you run into a specific issue while using the WordPress editor, please open a new forum thread and let us know what that is and what WPcom site it’s happening on. Thanks.

Hi @natadee – The Classic Editor in the My Site dashboard has been retired and cannot be reverted there. You do currently have the option writing in your site’s WP Admin Editor which you should be familiar with. That was the Editor we used on WPcom prior to 2015. Just be aware that this is likely a temporary solution since it is being made available via the Classic Editor plugin that WPcom installed for us. We users do not know how long that will be available.
If you choose to write in WP Admin’s Classic editor, open up a test post or page and start dabbling in the Classic block https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/classic-block/ or the full Block Editor https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/ The more you use it, the easier it will become and you’ll be ahead of the game when the Classic Editor is finally retired.

The block editor is very very trouble !difficult to use !!!! Please provide the function to switch it back

@heartshare, it is no longer possible to set the block editor as default or to use it from the My Sites dashboard. This change is not going to be rolled back.
But as @justjennifer indicated above, you can still use the classic editor from the Posts screen in WP-Admin – there the block editor will also be used by default, but you can select to create a post with the classic editor instead if you prefer.
However, that classic editor also won’t exist indefinitely, so I want to encourage you to give the block editor a try. It actually works very well once you get used to it, and the links @justjennifer provided above should answer most questions about how to use it.
