Switch to Custom Domain

    I have my domain name with GoDaddy and want to move over to WordPress to create an upgrade website versus the FREE version I have been using and need help understanding how to do this. Thank you. Also, if I use WordPress.com and upgrade is WordPress the host and I do not need BlueHost, etc? and if self-hosting is needed down the road can you transfer at anytime to WordPress.org?
