Switched from WordPress.com to WordPress.org: Followers did not come with

Switched from WordPress.com to WordPress.org: Followers did not come with. Is there something I can do to make them migrate to the new blog?

Thank you! I see that. However, it’s still not showing in my Reader (which would show me that it’s being shown to my followers). Is that something that will happen with time? I just recently published a post, so it should be there.

I’m not quite sure what you mean. You mentioned you could see your followers, but not in the Reader? Can you explain what that means?
Note that your self-hosted WordPress.org posts cannot be found in the WordPress.com Reader via tags.

I mean that in my Stats page, I see that my followers are now there. When I look under “Reader” my posts do not show up. How will my followers know that there are new posts if they don’t show up in their readers? I guess what would be the point of following through WordPress if you aren’t notified when a new post is published?

If you want to show up in the WordPress.com Reader, please move back to WordPress.com. If your followers add your site to their Readers it will show up, but since you are self-hosted your posts will not show up in the WordPress.com Reader. It is for WordPress.com sites. However, if your followers set it up to receive email notifications, they will receive your post notifications via email.

I’m really confused. So there is no point to moving your followers over to the new sites (except for the email subscribers). The people that were following me via WordPress follow, now are no longer following me and will not be notified of new posts (even though they’re listed as followers)? That seems pointless. I’m still registered using WordPress, and I see other people’s self-hosted blogs show up in my Reader.

Hm, I just checked and .com followers should be able to see your posts in their Readers.
Cheers!

So what do I do if they’re not showing up? I follow my own blog so it should be in my reader? What can I do to remedy this situation? Also, my email subscribers were not notified of the new post either.

It may take some time for everything to update. There was a Jetpack update yesterday that may have caused some issues. Did you update the plugin? If you did and you’re still having issues, contact our Jetpack support team here:

They would be better able to look into this for you.
