switching blog addresses

  Hi,

  I registered a new blog with the address ba2show.wordpress.com then realised it was considerably easier to update last years show site (8ba2.wordpress.com) and change it’s name. I deleted ba2show.wordpress.com expecting it to release the domain but 1 week on and it’s still not available.

  Can anyone help?

  It will never become available. To prevent accidental or inadvertent deletion of blogs, there are multiple warnings given that blog deletion is permanent and irreversible. Lastly, a verification link is sent in an email and it must be clicked to delete a blog. If clicking that link does not work then copy and paste it into your upper browser window and click. Once the verification link for deletion is clicked the blog URL is forever gone, gone, gone.

  You cannot recover or register any deleted blog URL. Deleted blog URLs are not recycled, regardless of who registered and deleted them and no exceptions are made.

  You can register another .wordpress.com blog http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/

  Then if you wish to you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade because it does not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is when you are domain mapping.

  sorry I’ve not clearly explained. I did not delete the actual blog. Just changed it’s name so the one I wanted would be released. Will this never be available?

  when trying to change the blog address it says

  ‘Sorry, that site already exists!’
