Switching Domain name from WordPress.com to just .com

  In the enrollment process, my domain name appeared to be available with a .com. However, I checked a couple of other names just to see what else might be available. 30 seconds later, my domain name was no longer shown to be available with a .com. I found this to be odd, but could not get it to show up again. So I picked the free option in the hopes I could switch it to a .com site. How do I switch my current domain?

  You are only able to register an available domain. Check availability here https://wordpress.com/start/domains

  vivabonsai.com is available when I searched. Not sure if that’s the name you were looking for.

  Custom domains (ending in .com instead of .wordpress.com) start at $18/year upgrade.
