Switching Domain Names
-
I currently own my own domain name, and I have a free wordpress.com blog. I am wanting to switch my wordpress.com blog to use my domain.
I am looking at my options. What sets WordPress apart from Wix? How are they better? How easy is it make the switch and how much control do I have over my design?

Hi there, in order to use your custom domain with your WordPressdotcom site, you would need to upgrade to at least the Personal plan. If you wish to make CSS changes to your site’s theme, you would need either the Premium or Business plan upgrade. https://wordpress.com/pricing/
Please also be aware that the WordPressdotcom platform is not the same as installing the WordPress open source software on 3rd party hosting, where you have full control over your site, code, theme. WordPressdotcom keeps it simple. You can learn about some of the differences here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
If you are switching from Wix to WordPressdotcom, you’ll want to read our guide here: https://transferto.wordpress.com/wix/
Not having had a Wix site I cannot say which is “better” for your needs.
