Switching domain to New One; drop old domain
-
Hello —
Hope that this message finds you well. I currently am half way into a yearly subscription for a domain in which I no longer want to use. I would like to convert it to a self-branded website, with a domain I have already purchased. I want to switch one out for the other, but do not want to use the old domain any longer. How can I do this? Thank you!

Then you just need to follow these directions to map your godaddy registered domain:

Let me know if you have any trouble.

Hello,
Do you know how to discontinue a website name (.com) here, that was not formally bought or registered. Can I then buy this name? I just tried to claim this name elsewhere and it is not available, likely because I used it here? Help please anyone? -

Thanks for your response staff-ozmodiar — so what will happen to the other domain, I just renewed it in November.

It will stay active until it expires. You’ll get some reminder emails as the time gets closer, but you can ignore them.
Make sure that you have your new URL is set as your site’s primary domain so that your other domain does not show.

Thank you rootjosh for responding. I don’t know why godaddy said I could not use that name but later it said it was available so I was able to purchase.
