Switching email addresses

I originally created a admin WordPress account and used my personal email address at the time of creation (e.g. ‘(email visible only to moderators and staff)’).
Since then I’ve changed the email address of this account to a general admin email address (e.g. (email visible only to moderators and staff)). This change has been done in both ‘Contact Info’ and ‘General Settings’ and i’ve made activated all the confirmation emails that came through to the general admin email address.
However, when I try to create a new personal WordPress account using my personal email address (e.g. (email visible only to moderators and staff)) I am still unable to do so.
Is there something i’m missing? Or in the back end is my personal email address already flagged as used and linked permanently to this admin WordPress account?

Try contacting support. If you have changed the email address in both places, that seems to be the only alternative.
