Switching from a free site to a Premium site

  I want to upgrade my Free blog to the Premium site option. I am very new to blogging, but I am wondering if I will loose my followers by doing this?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Switching to Premium should not affect your followers at all. :)

  Can I ask if you know if you tend to get better traffic with the Premium option or would you need to self host for that?

  Traffic is really going to depend on the quality of your site’s content, rather than where (or how) you host your site. I think the main advantage of Premium (or self-hosting) is that you get your own custom domain, which is much better in terms of branding and marketing than a subdomain URL like ____.wordpress.com. If you host on WordPress.com and use categories and tags, that might help your site show up in the WordPress.com reader, which could attract new followers.

  If you start out with a WordPress.com site and later decide to self-host, you’d need to install the Jetpack plugin in order to keep your followers.
