Switching from blogger to wordpress
-
I am switching from blogger to wordpress for http://www.rezaalireactivated.com
I have done the following as per the guide at http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/:
1. Import post from blogger
2. change nameservers to
NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
NS3.WORDPRESS.COM
3. Added domain rezaalireactivated.com to rezaalireactivated.wordpress.com
4. Paid $12
5. selected rezaalireactivated.com as primary domain
At the moment all I get is a message sayingNot Found
The requested URL / was not found on this server.
Did I miss anything?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Reza. Yes, you missed something. From the guide you followed:
When a new domain is purchased or when name servers are updated, it can take some time for the change to take full effect (up to 72 hours, but normally much less).
But not to worry: I can see your blog already at the new address from where I’m from (Eastern Canada). Just be patient and eventually it will work on your end as well.

Ooooh. I guess I’m getting paranoid. I ca’t believe I am getting stressed worrying about my blog not being up.
Thanks a lot airodyssey. Now I can relax…

The Pacific NW of the US is fine also – you can also have local cache issues where your local ISP holds information in a cache so @airodyssey can see your site but you can’t.

Thanks for the link auxclass.
While we are here, I noticed that the links generated on wordpress is different from the links generated by blogger. How do I keep the wordpress link the same as the blogger link? I had thought of manually changing the permalinks of all the posts to be the same as the blogger links (I know it’s tedious with 180 posts but I don’t know any other way to do it).
Thanks
Reza

You can’t change the permalinks structure in WordPress.com. However, if the slug (the last part of the URL) is the same, your old Blogger URLs may still work.
For example, something.com/2010/01/name-of-my-post.html will redirect to something.com/2010/01/02/name-of-my-post/
I noticed that by chance when I moved to WordPress.com from a non-blogging platform last year.

Thanks airodyssey. Unfortunately the last part of the URL are not the same. Anyway, that’s the price I have to pay for the decision I made.
Anyway, I can see the website from where I am now. Thanks for taking the time to help me. Do visit the site and pass the site onto your friends.
I am on a journey of training myself for triathlons and want to work towards the Ironman triathlons some day. I’ve lost 23 kg so far and still hoping to lose another 17kg.
