Switching from .com to .org
-
Hi,
I just setup a WordPress.com account and upgraded the domain. I also separately just purchased the Centric Pro theme by Studio Press. My .com account is completely untouched (I haven’t started anything yet….apart from upgrading the domain) but I’ve just realised that in order to install the Studio Press theme, I need to have access to plugins (and possible a lot of other things).
Am I right in thinking that I need to switch to .org? SInce I haven’t begun to use my .com account, will this be straight forward? What do I do about the upgraded domain I just purchased with WordPress? Is that now redundant? Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance,

Hi thekeithcrosbieasylum,
The Centric Pro theme isn’t usable on WordPress.com. What you’ll need to do is to find a web host that supports WordPress.org (most hosts do, as long as they support PHP and MySQL).
Here’s a support article on moving a blog: http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog
After you’ve found a host and am all set up, you can point the domain that you’ve bought at WordPress.com to your new site. Here’s another support article that shows you how you may go about doing so:
