switching from .com to .org

  I am trying to navigate the switch from .com to .org but I am having a hard time navigating my website (we have the free plan). Am I able to access those files to migrate?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  At “My Site” “Settings” you can scroll down to “Export” to get an xml file of your WordPress.com content (not theme,menus etc) which you can use to import into a new site elsewhere.

  I was told if you have the free version of .com you cannot export your content. Is this accurate?

  You can export your content with a free site. I have done it a few times, usually to make a year-end backup, sometimes to use the xml file to make a pdf version of my site.
