switching from network solutions to a paid wordpress website
-
Thinking of buying organization theme as a new website/newsletter/blog combo for integrative medical practice. How can I transfer my domain name/webmail from network solutions to wordpress? How do I build the templates offline without anyone googling me (would the template show up online, hence confusion) before the switch? And how would the transfer of the domain name/email addresses work? Is the organization template appropriate for what I’m thinking of doing? Thanks! my website stinks..old! kmondesire.com

Hi kelleyshealthytips,
You won’t be able to transfer your domain into WordPress.com, but you’ll be able to point it at WordPress.com, and have your site hosted here.
Here’s a support article that shows you how:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/Then, you’ll be able to set your blog to private, so that people won’t be able to Google you, or to access the blog. This article has the steps that tell you how you may go about doing so:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/Once your domain has been mapped to WordPress.com, you can then add email to it. If you’re already hosting it elsewhere, you could follow these instructions to add your email back to it:

Thank you, valentine! I will read the links. I also called Network Solutions, who is my hosting service for my website now and they gave me instructions how to upload to them once I have the template done offline. I’ve got it written down at my office but I believe the program they suggested is freezilla. I’ll wait until I’ve got a free day to do this and do my due diligence with the reading. Love the organization template and think it will be great for my needs!
