switching from .org to .com

Hello, I had a few quick questions regarding my switch to wordpress.com before taking the plunge.

    1. I added some additional lines to the css sheet in order to have a look more in line with my overall vision. This is standard css such as divs to manipulate the font and image spacing. Will any of this be lost or need to be updated?

    2. As I am planning to purchase a premium account, will I be able to manipulate the layout further in the future?

    3. Are there any additional warnings I should be aware of when moving a wordpress site over to wordpress.com?

    Thank you!

  • Hello

When you switch your site from a self-hosted WordPress site to a .com site, you will need to choose a theme from the ones at https://wordpress.com/themes/ Some of the themes include a number of customizations that are available on any plan.

If you purchase the premium or business level plan, you will be able to customize the CSS on your chosen WordPress.com theme.

So, to answer your question #1, unless your existing theme is a part of WordPress.com, your edits will not cary over, but you should be able to create something similar.

Also, you’ll need to consider if you are using any plugins on your current site. It is not possible to install plugins on WordPress.com, though there are many features, such as contact forms and image galleries that are already built in.

Hope this helps! Let us know if you have any other questions.
