Switching from private to public

    Hi there, thanks for the opportunity 🙇‍♂️

    I’ve recently set my site to public then saved it but the content is not visible on the site. Is the delay normal or has the content been blocked.

    Hi there!

    It looks like the post you linked is not public.
    When you change the site to the public, you are allowing access for everyone else. You should also check if the post itself is public.

    You should go into your dashboard from My Site> Posts, and you should be able to see your post under the Published tab if in fact you already published it. Here are the instructions on how to do it: https://wordpress.com/support/posts/#view-your-posts

    And you can check the visibility of the post when editing your post by opening the settings and you’ll see the Status & Visibility option, there you can change it to Public. Follow these instructions on how to do it: https://wordpress.com/support/post-and-page-visibility/#changing-visibility

    Let us know if this helped. Just to clarify, there is no delay on posting unless you set a publishing time.

    Thanks for your assistance, it is much appreciated.

    I’ve had no issues in the past when going from private to public. In general settings I simply opted for the public option and left the “discourage search engine….” box unticked then saved the new settings. And it worked. But now not…I did nothing differently.

    However I have followed your instructions. I went to post in general settings, then all posts , it shows the post is published but still private , clicked on “private” beneath the post heading, then the actual post comes up. There I clicked on the settings icon. “Post and Block” options provided and below that, “status and visibility”, visibility is private. clicked on private. 3 options provided(public, private and password protected) clicked on public👍.
    But when I visited the actual post again it still shows private.
    It’s as if there is a conflict between what I’m opting for and the outcome. So I was wondering if there is a delay when switching, since the site has been private for a couple of months now.

    Not to worry friend, if it doesn’t resolve in a couple of weeks. I’ll delete and republished the articles 👊

    You’ll need to switch it to public and then hit the Publish or Update button near the top-right: https://wordpress.com/support/post-and-page-visibility/
