Switching from the Free Plan to the Personal Plan

Hi. I currently am using the free WordPress plan but have run out of my 3GB of storage. I am looking to switch to either the Personal or Premium plan. If I were to switch from the Free to the Personal plan, would I gain an additional 6GB of data for the year, or an additional 3GB, since I already have used 3GB on the free plan? Also, as I am using the site as a personal blog, which plan do you suggest I upgrade to? I tend to use a lot of photos. Thanks for the help and advice!

The Personal plan includes another 3GB of storage (total 6GB).

There are no trial upgrades, no monthly payment plans, no bulk deal upgrades, and no multiple year upgrades.

What domain mapping does is providing a seamless redirect to the very same content under the new domain URL when a person clicks the old URL .wordpress.com to the original content. How to upgrade
You must be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard, select a plan and purchase upgrades at > Dashboard> Store > My Upgrades

refunds and cancelling upgrades
WordPress.com provides a 30-day refund on all upgrades except Domain Registrations, Domain Renewals, and Guided Transfers. The refund period for Domain Registrations and Renewals is 48 hours.Note: It takes from 1 – 2 weeks for the refund to be received.

You can use the Personal Plan, yes, but you need to add the plan first. If you add the domain first, Premium is selected automatically.
Go to My Site ->Plans and buy the Personal Plan, and then you can go back and claim your free domain at My Site ->Domains ->Add.
