Switching from Weebly to WordPress

  • Unknown's avatar

Hello! I currently have my website on Weebly and I am eager to move over to WordPress. However before I commit to a full year, I wanted to see if there is an option to pay monthly, rather than the full year, so I can be sure the move is right for me.

Also, my domain name came free when I signed up with Weebly. Can I move that over to you if I cancel Weebly?

Thanks in advance and hope to be a customer soon!

  • Hello,

WordPress.com offers several plans, one is free, while the others are billed yearly. The free version has a lot of great features and will give you a good idea if you want to use the service in the long-term.

Domain names can be transferred or pointed to your new site. Here’s some info. on domain mapping which you may find helpful.

Here’s a great forum post about Weebly transfers.

Hello! Just adding to what staff-eleanor said. At this time WordPressdotcom does not accept incoming domain transfers, but you can still point your domain name servers to your WordPressdotcom site with one of the upgrade plans, as staff-eleanor mentioned. If you registered your domain with Weebly and can’t keep it with them, you’ll want to move it to a different domain registrar first.

Also, this may assist when the time comes

    Thank you, both!

I am intending on purchasing a pro account, as I’m very interested in using Elementor Pro – however I’m nervous about paying for a full year. Is there any way to pay monthly?

Hello again and you are welcome.

All WordPressdotcom upgrade plans are paid for the full year at checkout and are automatically renewed with the card on record unless you opt out.

If you decide to cancel, you have 30 days from the date of purchase to request a refund on everything but new domain registration, which needs to be cancelled within 48-hours of purchase. Here’s more about that:

    Thanks so much!

Last question. I’m moving from Weebly and my domain name came free with the Pro account. I don’t want to lose my domain and hope to move it over to WordPress! Is there any documentation on how this is done?

  • Hi @momidarity, we don’t currently have a way to “transfer” the registration here, but as long as Weebly will let you a) keep the domain registered there for now and b) point it to the servers of your choice, we can help you get it working with your site here.

If they can’t do A and B but will let you transfer the domain, you could transfer it to a domain registrar of you choice, then point it to our servers.

Does that make sense? You’ll want to ask them what your options are.
