Switching from WIX to WordPress

I want to switch from WIX to WordPress. I have transfered my blogs over manually and would like to use the same domain as I don’t want a new one. I also need hosting. How to I do that?

Hi there,
First, if you’ve set up a free WordPress.com address and imported your content, you already have hosting. On WordPress.com hosting is free and automatic the moment you create your site. We don’t have different hosting plans. We do have different upgrade plans, but those are to add features to your site, not for hosting itself.
To use your domain with your WordPress.com site, you’ll need to purchase one of our paid plans under My Site ->Plans, and add the domain mapping upgrade included in the plan.
Use a Domain You Already Own (Domain Mapping)
Mapping also requires that you point your domain to us from the provider where the domain is registered, and here it gets a bit complicated: Wix does not allow domains registered with them to be pointed to other hosts, so you’ll first need to transfer the domain from Wix to another domain registrar like Namecheap or GoDaddy (to mention just two), and then you can point the domain to us from that provider, as explained in the link I gave above.

If you decide on a self-hosted site you’ll still need to transfer your domain. The simplest option would then be to transfer it directly to Siteground.
Then you’ll set up a hosting plan with Siteground and install WordPress there and connect your domain – they’ll need to help you with that part. Lastly you’ll import your content, which works basically the same on self-hosted WordPress as on WordPress.com.
If you want the ability to manage your Siteground site via your WordPress.com account, you’ll need to install and connect the Jetpack plugin, but aside from that self-hosted sites are not connected to us in any way, and we’re not able to help with them directly.
