Switching from wix to wordpress
-
Hello! I just published a new wix website. I love the layout but find it difficult to drive traffic to. There are many limitations related to building an email list through a secondary provider. I’ve worked with wordpress in the past and am frustrated I didn’t use it in the first place.
When switching over, can I choose a free domain while I am setting the website up. Then once it’s all set up with my wix content copied over, can I switch my real domain name for the free wordpress domain?
Thank you!

hi,
Then once it’s all set up with my wix content copied over, can I switch my real domain name for the free wordpress domain?
The above would be Mapping domain to WordPress.com
To use your domain hosted elsewhere with your WordPress.com site, you will need to change the domain nameservers at your domain host, and point them to WordPress.com nameservers.
Our nameservers are:NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
NS3.WORDPRESS.COMYou will also need to purchase the mapping subscription upgrade via one of our paid plans so that you can map your domain over to your WordPress.com site.
For instructions on both processes, please visit our support page:

Hi there,
If you switch to WordPress.com you can start creating your site on the .wordpress.com domain that comes for free and you can even make it private so only you and people you invite have access to it:

If you have any other questions, just let me know and I’ll be happy to help.
