Switching from WordPress.com to WordPress.org
-
I’ve already emailed and am still awaiting your reply. I have a self-hosted WordPress.org site/domain that I transferred from WordPress.com. If I close the wordpress.com site can I still access my Jetpack plugin on WordPress.org??
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

hi,
You will need to keep your WordPress.com account as Jetpack requires one.

Yes, I read this and see …however the bipolarbrave.wordpress.com is different from bipolarbrave.com – can I at least get rid of my bipolarbrave.wordpress.com and just have my bipolarbrave.com connected to Jetpack and WordPress reader… Reason being, I have two blogs now, my bipolarbrave.wordpress.com and my bipolarbrave.com – what do I do to combine them so I can let Jetpack manage it all under my bipolarbrave.com?? (I’m self hosting through blue host server btw)

Hi there,
You can set your WordPress.com site to private or delete it without it having any impact on your Jetpack site. Go to My sites ->Switch Site and select the WordPress.com site. Then click on Settings. You’ll find both options on that page.
However, if you still have a lot of traffic coming in to your WordPress.com address, you might consider adding a Site Redirect upgrade to that site instead to send that traffic on to your new site:
Also make sure if you have followers or stats on the WordPress.com site that you want to transfer to the Jetpack site to do so before you delete the WordPress.com one. We can transfer the stats for you, and you can migrate your subscribers yourself from within Jetpack:

Thanks for your reply. I’m about to delete my bipolarbrave.wordpress.com site and not sure if that will effect my bipolarbrave.com traffic. I do have stats I’d like to be transferred, and I already transferred my followers and set the wordpress.com site to private so I don’t get more followers through that site. I don’t think I care to do the site redirect. I just want to have bipolarbrave.com the only site, but is it possible to have it show up in the wordpress.com reader or other readers for that matter?
Thanks in advance.

Hi ohsweetfeet,
I do have stats I’d like to be transferred
Sure, I’ve transferred the stats from bipolarbrave.wordpress.com to your new site.
I’m about to delete my bipolarbrave.wordpress.com site and not sure if that will effect my bipolarbrave.com traffic.
bipolarbrave.wordpress.com and bipolarbrave.com are both owned by the same WordPress.com account but the two sites function independently of one another. Therefore, deleting bipolarbrave.wordpress.com won’t remove any of the content from your new site.
but is it possible to have it show up in the wordpress.com reader or other readers for that matter?
Yes, posts on your Jetpack site will appear in the Reader.

I’m seeing that my bipolarbrave.com post feed is not showing up in the reader, and has only one follower in wordpress.com reader. I thought my followers should have been kept… can you help me with this? I’m stumped.TIA
-
I can see the followers were moved to a new site with a tempdomain — as far as I can tell, that has not been updated yet.
Can you ensure the new site’s settings for Site URL and what not are correct, then reconnect Jetpack?
-
I reconnected and it looks to have debugged it. Now I have no followers at all. :( Can you see that it’s the correct domain? And how do I recapture my followers, or have I lost them for good?
-
Also, can you guys restore my stats and subscribers? I lost all of my stats and subscribers when I did that… :(
-
Okay, your followers and stats should all now be on your site again.
Please let me know if I can help with anything else.
