I am hoping you can clarify:
You mean that the new domain and hosting site was not a purchased for Domain Mapping Domain Mappingandand is a hosting package?
If it is a hosting package you will have to first install WordPress.ORG yourself….

If you are trying to log in to your new self hosted site, and expecting to Log in WordPress.ORG, but are finding your self log into a WordPress.COM dashboard
I suggest you contact wordpress.COM support at:
I suspect there are somethings they can clarify that forum volunteers cannot.
The support page says that they won’t be looking at tickets to Oct 29,
so I’ll also tag this thread if the Stafff are available to the forums, right now. -
You need to change the name servers to point to your new host – they need to have set up the site for your new name – You would then log into on your new site and not at WordPress.COM

You don’t need domain mapping for a WordPress.ORG install. You might use domain forwarding if you want to send traffic from a your-site.WordPress.COM to a your-site.com. But if you had domain mapping long enough traffic would just follow where your-site.com changed to.

O.k that make senses, since the O.P. appears to have a ranking on google already due to his previous wordpress.com blog.
I was just wondering if the O.P wasn’t overpaying for something he didn’t need, when I posted previously.Thanks.

You be welcome
we have had a couple of people that were domain mapping AND paying for hosting where their domain was registered – yes double payment and a good deal for their other host as there was zero bandwidth being used – sometimes there is confusion on what is really needed –

How do I switch from WP.com to WP.org? Don’t I need an external host? How do I get one? And do I lose any of my blog posts (not pages) if I make the switch?
