Switching hosting to WordPress
-
I heard WordPress has free hosting- would this require the domain to end in .Wordpress which is fine with me – I’m looking to switch my site to free
Site: (email visible only to moderators and staff).
WP.com: Unknown
Jetpack: Yes
Correct account: Yes -
Hi there! How are you?
Yes, with a free account you can have a website and the domain will end in “.wordpress.com”, and you can change it later if you wish to.
If you purchase any WordPress.com annual or two-year plan, you may register a new domain for free for one year.
You can find more information here:
https://wordpress.com/support/domains/#domain-name-overviewHope this helps!

How do I switch my current account (which is hosted elsewhere & is using my pure domain (domain name.com) to the free WordPress changing it to domainname.Wordpress.com?
Thanks for the help! -
Hi there,
We have a complete guide on moving from WordPress.org self hosted to WordPress.com here – https://wordpress.com/support/moving-from-self-hosted-wordpress-to-wordpress-com/
Did you try that?

So I’ve been at this for some time- from the link you sent- The instructions say that I can pull the info from the site but the only options I am seeing are asking me to upload from my computer but it’s only letting me upload one file-
Which obviously doesn’t work.
So I’m in my dashboard I go to tools and select import I see several sites like blogger blog roll live journal etc. I go to the bottom To WordPress – I install it and then click run importer. That’s when it only gives me the option to upload from my computer I don’t see anywhere where I can do anything else -
Hi @wrenkraft I see you posted the same question here: https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/moving-here-from-my-paid-domain
With this in mind I am closing this post and marking it as a duplicate, but you are welcome to continue to reply in the other thread, thanks!
