switching my domain from 123-reg

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi – want to move my domain over from 123-reg to WordPress but the instructions for doing this don’t tally up. WordPress is telling me I need an authorisation code from 123-reg. But 123-reg says the following…
‘To change the IPS TAG on this domain name ask your new web hosting provider what their IPS TAG is and then enter it in the form below. IPS TAGS are usually all in capitals and are not the same as an Internic handle.’

How can I find this please?

    Thanks

    Hi there!

    Thanks for reaching out.

Do you wish to transfer a domain with .uk extension?
I found out that IPS tag is the label that applies to any registrar that registers .UK domains.

I would like to mention that .uk domain cannot currently be transferred to WordPress.com. But it can be mapped instead using domain mapping.

Please let us know if this is about some other domain extension.

I am also adding modlook tag into the sidebar tags on this thread for Staff help.

  • Hi there,

As @yashitamittal11 correctly pointed out, an IPS TAG is needed for transferring .uk domains.

As we currently do not support incoming transfers for .uk domains you can keep it with your current registrar and point it here by following these instructions:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

If you have any other questions, just let me know and I’ll be happy to help.
