Switching my domain to WordPress, but keeping my email with current provider
-
I currently have a domain hosted on a external server. I have built a blog using wordpress.com and now want to switch the domain over to my WordPress site. However I am concerned that if I move my domain to WordPress, the email that is currently hosted with my current provider will no longer work. Is there a way I can keep my email domain hosted with my current provider and move my website to WordPress? Or are WordPress able to host email accounts?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I moved my site onto WordPress.COM and kept my old email servers at my old host.
I had to add custom MX records,
A mail 255.255.255.255 MX 10 mail.my-domain.com.I have a static IP address, after I figured out the format (with some help from Staff), worked great, old email addresses still work. Your IP needs to replace the 255
There might be some differences with your old host – but worked great twice for me.

To complete on what auxclass said, you’ll find more info about domain mapping and changing the DNS records (A, MX) here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/custom-dns/On a final note, WordPress.com does not provide email account hosting themselves, but to those who don’t have an email provider already for their domain name, it suggests free Google Apps.
