Switching over to WordPress.org question.
-
I’m going to be switching over to wordpress.org in January 2012. However, when I have the wordpress.com staff transfer everything over to the new site, will everything including amount of social network shares be lost? Even if they are now going to the same page/URL just on the WP.org site? I really don’t want to lose everything that I’ve built up over the year because I need the features on wordpress.org.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Depends. Do you have the domain mapping upgrade? I believe but am not 100000% sure that if you do, the shares accrue to that domain name and thus are transferable. If you don’t, they won’t transfer.
But seriously, NOBODY looks at how many times an old post was tweeted.

Thank you for your quick response! I do have and use the domain mapping upgrade even now. I’m more concerned about my pages being shared. For example, my voting page. More of a credibility factor than anything else.

Then I think you’re good. I did the move and it wasn’t painful because I’d done domain mapping from almost the first day.
