Switching the Footer Hover and Stationary Colors

  • Unknown's avatar

Hello, CSS Gurus! I am trying to make a minimal change to the text color of the words “Blog at WordPress. The Newsworthy Theme”. I would like to switch their order, when hovered over. Simply flip-flop them, so the color that was the idle text is now the color that shows when it’s hovered over and vice-versa. Can this be accomplished?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I have “Powered by WordPress” under the company logo, in the loading animation I made for the slideshow, so you guys are getting props right from the get go. ;)

The theme and WordPress footer credits have to remain visible and readable per our Terms of Service (#1 Attribution). See the Frequently Asked Questions on the Custom Design support page for more information.

You are allowed to restyle the footer credits to better fit with your design as long as they remain readable.

Please understand that I’m not being negative, but I’ve recently gotten feedback in these words:

“The word ‘blog’, itself can imply amateurism in web design.”

It’s kind of hard to explain that off, for a business. I work in sales, for this very same company, and was told nearly the exact same thing by a customer who had visited our website. I really didn’t have a response, other than that they had a good point.

WordPress for Business is awesome, and I’m extremely happy with every aspect of its services. However, the required branding actually seems to be deterring some (all be it minimal) potential customers from doing business with our organization. I never realized how many people actually pay attention to the little details.

It would be cool, if you guys would possibly consider an alternative for WordPress for Business accounts. Something more indicative of professionalism, than using the word blog. “Powered by WordPress” or just “Theme by WordPress” as a link to you guys.

I added “Powered by WordPress” under the company logo load animation, voluntarily, I like WordPress so much. I’m just hearing feedback from people, whose feedback carries some weight.

    ^Also….Thank you for the info.

The current terms of service require the footer credits to remain and remain unaltered, except for adjusting the styling to better fit with the site design. If the footer credits are hidden, or are not visible/readable, then the site is in violation of the terms of service. Unless, and/or until, WordPress.com decides to change this policy, the footer credits have to remain and cannot be edited.

Am I okay, as it is now?

I made the text color #0A0888 on a background of #0A012A to make it subdued, but still visible/readable. No alterations, other than centering the added/lighter site title & copyright segments on the page, were made.

I’d honestly like to subdue it a bit more, but I’ll do whatever you say would keep me within the parameters.

The branding segment of the footer is currently at #0A0888 (it pops in a darker field), but I would like to be at #0A0666. At that, it would be tough to catch at a glance; That’s really all I wish to accomplish. The hover color is a more pronounced gray, so it will stand out if hovered over. I have no intent of changing it, unless instructed to do so.

I love WordPress, and I plan on designing more biz sites here. I just hope you guys can understand me not wanting a biz I do a design for to have no choice but to share my sentiments. :-D

^And also…….WordPress should get their props (or even Automattic), no doubt about it. Beautiful themes, that function extremely well!!! There are just SO many words in that footer for a business website.

I hope it’s okay to express my thoughts candidly, @thesacredpath. It’s just feedback I’m getting, as I am also a regional sales rep for the company I co-designed this site for. Co-designed meaning, with WP DevShed, yourself, and a couple of other forum members.

Hi. I wanted to ask for help on the main entrance of my blog. I use the theme ‘expound’ and I want to look bigger the title of the main entrance. I have tried several CSS codes but can not. I hope you can help me.

    This is my web http://www.codigo29.com

Hola, @ code 29. Podría empezar un nuevo tema de su pregunta? Por favor, no responden … Este hilo es bastante específica, y necesito el Sr. thesacredpath para ver mis palabras cuando él está en el Internet otra vez. ¡GRACIAS! :)

@thesacredpath, could you please address my concern before theirs? I literally just need to know if I’m okay (as is) with the footer, and if I could possibly subdue the branding a little further from #0A0888 to #0A0666.

The bossman has long since stopped griping about it, but now some others (one being a potential customer) have made mention of the aforementioned word, as a deterrent for biz sites. This site is a chemical company, not a magazine like codigo29. It does make a difference to the folks I deal with. If their own company websites are free of such branding, their judgemental of the presence of it; It’s become a clear fact. I’m just hopeful, Man.

LOL..I am a little hyped. Perdona! Your site is beautiful, by the way.

Translated, so it’s clear I was pretty relaxed and in no way negative.

Hello, @ code 29. Could you start a new topic of your question? Please do not respond … This thread is quite specific, and Mr. thesacredpath needs to see my words when he is on the Internet again. THANK YOU! :)

On the color of the footer credits, I think what you have is a little dark. If we could possibly do something like this color #1f56f5 I think that would be fine.

@codigo29, since you are using a different theme, and since CSS is generally theme specific, can I ask you to create a new thread in the CSS Forum? Many thanks in advance.

Taken care of, @thesacredpath. Thanks for you patience.
