After I have download the website content and have switched DNS server names to WordPress, when can I cancel my accounts with Bluehost?

Is the transferred domain billed through WordPress? Is it eligible for the free year with signing up?

    WP.com: Yes
    Jetpack: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to moderators and staff)

  • Hey there,

    Many thanks for reaching out!

when can I cancel my accounts with Bluehost?

Bluehost.com/support should be able to help you with that cancellation and it should be also be available via your account with them to. This is not something that could be done via WordPress.com.

If the domain is transferred to WordPress.com (by following these steps: https://en.support.wordpress.com/incoming-domain-transfer/) then the registration fees would be settled with WordPress.com.

Yes, the domain registration would be extended an additional year.

It sounds like you could be following a tutorial? The reason why I ask is because, we provide a plugin to make a migration from Bluehost to WordPress.com completely automated.

This plugin can be found here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wpcom-migration/ and the site can be moved as is, including all themes and plugins that are in use.

To note in order to run installed themes and plugins, the site would need to be on the business plan.

Many thanks in advance, and we’re happy to help with the migration and next steps with getting the site set up here at WordPress.com.
