Switching to WordPress.org from .com

Our organization is looking to purchase a theme and need to be able to use it, which is why we need to switch to .org. Can anyone assist us in this process?

  • Someone can’t make the move for you, but there’s a good guide to the whole process here: https://move.wordpress.com/
You’ll need a hosting company and a blank WordPress.org install, and then the import will take any content from your WordPress.com site and copy it over.

You can also upgrade to Business on WordPress.com hosting to have the option to install a third party theme. This option offers the stability and support of hosting with WordPress.com. If you like the option of getting email or chat support or think you might need a little more guidance than the WordPress.org forums offer, that’s generally what I recommend.
