Add topic to favorites
I am in the process of switching over from wordpress.com to wordpress.org. I signed up for BlueHost and I am trying to transfer my domain name, but they are asking for an EPP code. I have no idea what that is and where I could find it. Also, I believe I imported my blog, as I received an email stating it was successful, but I am hesitant about that too.

Not sure what I have to do. Would love some help here, as I am not savy in this area.

I did check that out and I was puzzled by which domain do I transfer. The one that says wordpress.com at the end or the one that I bought? I have two listed.

The one you bought.

The one ending in __.wordpress.com stays at WordPress.com and has no nameservers to change.

OK, I am now at the domain manager. What do I need to do at this point? I see my domain name and when it expires and the “lock” symbol.

If you want your EPP code as you indicated earlier, these are the instructions you should be following.

Ugh! I’m at that point where I should have paid the $119 to have wordpress take care of it for me!

Did you initiate the transfer at the receiving registrar first, then follow the guide at http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/domain-management/#transfer-to-another-registrar ?

I believe so! I am so confused at this point. I don’t know if I am now with wordpress.org. Is there a way you can look at my site? What do I need to do?

Your domain is still here. I recommend trying the transfer process again or contacting the receiving registrar.

Is it possible at this point to have someone from wordpress to make this transition for me? Would there be a fee involved? I just do not have the patience or time for this. :)

Yes, the Guided Transfer includes this, and it’s $99.

My guess is they found out the the hand holding and such was more work to move a site than they first thought – remember they offered the transfer for a while then removed the transfer package while they redid some tools and the price change was on the re-introduction
