Switching WordPress.COM blog to GoDaddy.com

  I really want to use advertisements on my website. However, I’m using wordpress.COM. I’ve heard that GoDaddy.com isn’t that great of a host, but I want to switch to a host and then download the WP.org program.

  I already own my domain http://www.PatriotsPlus.net and I just want to switch host – WP.com to something like GoDaddy.com

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Are you looking for instructios for moving to wordpress.org?

  I’m looking to switch to wordpress.org

  So, how am I going to be able to do that? I have already downloaded the .org program, but do I need to get set up an account with GoDaddy.com or a site like that? I already have a domain, so how will that work?

  It’s just that I’m kind of confused.

  Yes you will have to get a hosting account, and a domain name if you do not have one already.

  And if I would have read fully, I would have seen you have a domain name.

  You will, after you get your hosting account and get the verification email from the host saying it is set up and ready, have to point your domain name DNS at the new hosting company. It will take anywhere from 24 to 72 hours for that propagation to take place although generally it is 24 hours or less.

  Okay, thanks.

  So, just to make it clear, I will have to set up an account with a hosting service, and then I can add my DNS?

  Also, any recommendations on the best hosting site? I only have one domain, so yeah.

  I also linked to the appropriate support documentation and that’s linked to the recommened web hosting sites. The article I linked to contains everything he needs to know including all links, Richard’s advice and my advice laid out step-by-step.IMHO all that’s needed here is for the Tony to read that information and then act on it.
