switeched to a new theme

    Hi,

I switched to Boardwalk theme last night and now my site wouldn’t open. It takes 10 minutes to load the content to open the front page, which is pretty inconvenient. My blog is somewhat picture heavy and I am wondering if this problem occurs because of the sizes of the pictures.
If it is, is there any way to reduce the sizes of the pics as a bulk rather than going in and resizing one by one manually. The pictures are currently ar intheir original /full sizes. What size would you recommend?

If this theme wouldn’t support a picture heavy blog, I will choose a new theme. However, the descriptions of the themes do not indicate whether they support pictures or not. Do you have a recommendation? Could Twenty Fourteen be a better alternative?

My site is located at: http://www.asliinwonderland.com

Thanks in advance for your help and I hope to hear from you soon!

    Best,
    Asli

    Hi Asli,

Thanks for writing in and bringing this to our attention. I have put this in front of some of our developers and as soon as I have some additional information for you I will let you know!

    Hey there,

Our developers already had a chance to look at things and it turns out that even though Boardwalk only appears to load the Featured Image for each post, it actually loads all of the information for each individual post before it displays the full site.

Because, as you say, you have quite a few images which are very large in size, your site is loading slowly because it is having to load all of the posts, all of the images images, and all of the galleries before it displays.

You have a couple of options. You can go with a different theme which doesn’t load in the same way, or you can upload smaller versions of your images which will allow your site to load faster. Unfortunately there isn’t any way to bulk reduce the quality on our servers.

Let me know if you have any questions!
