    when i install then launch wordpress, i get: Error establishing a database connection

    For what site is this?

    There’s no installation of WordPress required for sites hosted on WordPress.com, so it sounds like you’re using the open source version of WordPress at another host.

    If you’re doing a full manual installation, make sure you’ve completed all the steps in the documentation for that software at https://wordpress.org/support/article/how-to-install-wordpress/ – after installing the software itself, you also need to manually create the database for the site, and there might be some server configuration you also need to do.
