Syntax error, cannot access site

My Business Directory plugin produced the error below while I was doing a recommended update and I am now locked out of the site. How can this be fixed?
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘[‘ in /home/stokerss/public_html/wp-content/plugins/business-directory-plugin/includes/fields/class-fieldtypes-textarea.php on line 413 -
Hi there,
Looks like you’re in the wrong forum. It appears that you’re using the self-hosted version of WordPress and you need to seek help at the WordPress.org forums:

These forums are for WordPress.com hosted sites only. If you want to know more about the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org you can read this document:

Thanks for getting back to me and sorry about that. Have now submitted my request to .org.

No worries. People confuse the two versions of WordPress all the time :)
You can find the specific subforum for the plugin that appears to be causing the error here:

Hi Kokkieh, thanks for your update. BD support advised that my site needed to be on at least PHP V 5.6. My site was on 5.3 so I upgraded to 5.6 and everything back working again, luckily my theme works with 5.6. I noticed other BD queries also referred to sites crashing after applying the BD update so something that Administrators need to be aware of.
